DES MOINES — U.S. Representative Zach Nunn (IA-03) has successfully secured $750,000 for water infrastructure improvements in Ankeny. The federal investment will be directed towards the construction of a new water tower. "A reliable and safe water system is something families rely on when choosing where to raise their family," expressed Rep. Nunn. He further added, "I’m glad we could deliver this win for Ankeny and the surrounding community who will benefit from this investment for years to come."

The funding was obtained through the community project funding process, enabling members to allocate resources for essential projects. This financial support was included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024, signed into law on Saturday, March 4, 2024. Mayor Holm of Ankeny extended gratitude, stating, "On behalf of the City of Ankeny, I’d like to thank Congressman Zach Nunn. This grant funds a vital project outlined in our Water System Master Plan, ensuring improved water storage, more reliable water pressure and distribution reliability."

The allocated $750,000 will be utilized for the construction of a new 2.5-million-gallon water storage tank in Ankeny. Additionally, these funds will contribute to enhancing the city's drinking water distribution system, thereby improving reliability, increasing capacity, and ensuring the delivery of safe drinking water to the community.

Rep. Nunn revealed the details of this new funding initiative during a press conference held at the site earmarked for the construction of the new water storage tank, alongside Ankeny Mayor Mark Holm.
